In March 2021, the American
Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) was passed by Congress and signed by
President Joe Biden into law. This sweeping legislation will
provide $350 billion in economic stimulus and emergency funding
for state, local, territorial, and Tribal governments to respond
to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the U.S. Treasury is currently in
the rulemaking process detailing the specifics of how this funding
can be spent, we expect that governments will be given the
latitude to make necessary investments in projects like broadband
infrastructure.
